Hornet Leg Is a 3 piece punk rock n'roll combination based out of Portland, Oregon consisting of members Chris Sutton (Gossip, Dirtbombs, Dub Narcotic Sound System) on Guitar/Vox, Robert Comitz (Nucular Aminals) on drums, and Bob Desaulniers (Psychic Feline) on bass duties. A project that started as a "solo" project for Sutton in the mid 2000's has since blossomed into a trifecta noise attack with each band member adding his own expertise to a fuzzy, bubbling, cauldron. Influences arrive from a wide spectrum of sources. Favorite artists such as The Clean, Velvet Underground, The Raincoats, Quixotic, The Buzzcocks, The Who, AC/DC, Jonathan Richman, Marine Girls, Magnetic Fields, and the best of the 90's (MBV, Breeders, Nirvana etc.) all make their presence felt within the bands disparate songwriting. Hornet Leg has released 3 different albums on 3 different labels (K, Stankhouse), and with the newest offering "Wrecking Ball" on local label Hovercraft the seasoned garage rock listener will be able appreciate the groups collective versatility. The opening track "Watch Me Rise" soars immediately with defined anger while "Realize" skips along nimbly with psychedelic colored optimism. The epic "Summer's Eve" features Bob and Roberts wickedly intricate rhythm tapestry towering over Chris's haunted vocal and cobweb guitar work. All in all, Hornet Leg prides themselves on their educated appreciation of all things nasty, melodic, and punk. "Wrecking Ball" is an apt representation of this ethos.
